David vs. Goliath: How Small Credit Unions Compete With Banking Giants
Earlier this year at the American Banker Digital Banking Conference in Austin, Texas, Fred Shuherk, Senior Manager of Web Services at Silicon Valley-based Star One Credit Union participated in a panel on the importance of building collaboration between a credit union and their digital services providers.
In particular, he emphasized the importance of removing the limits from features your users can access, like tools to move their money around, accessibility across digital devices, and Remote Deposit Capture for any and every type of check members might deposit.
Credit unions based in the Northwest — which is quickly gaining a reputation as “The Silicon Forest” — will no doubt find many of the concerns of Star One and their members eminently relatable.
An essential component to creating these limitless digital spaces for credit union members is to foster a collaborative relationship with your IT, mobile, and digital platform providers.
It’s this partnership with the Northwest Credit Union Association’s Strategic Link partner, Tyfone, that Star One has created a reliable road map for new digital services and features.
“We’re excited to hear from other credit union leaders and to bring the best to the Northwest,” said Jason Smith, Northwest Credit Union Association VP of Strategic Resources.
Shuherk and Tyfone have received such overwhelmingly positive feedback on this panel that they have decided to expand it into a full informational webinar session to empower participants with some tools for success in the unique space of mobile banking and digital innovations for credit unions against an increasingly monolithic digital space for big banks.
The upcoming webinar will be hosted courtesy of NWCUA and Tyfone on Sept. 5, 10:30-11:30 a.m. PST. To register, click here.
