POPio Offering Free Video Banking Licenses to Support NWCUA Credit Unions

Like most of the country, credit unions have made drastic changes to adjust to the COVID-19 crisis. Social distancing and stay-at-home orders have forced credit unions to find new ways of taking care of members. One of those ways is via virtual banking. It’s essential that members are able to manage their finances without having to leave home, and mobile apps, online portals, and telebanking aid in that effort. But those avenues don’t always allow members to have meaningful, face-to-face engagements with their credit unions.  

Responding to the growing need for Northwest credit unions to meet their members’ needs, video banking industry leader,POPio, is allocating 10,000 free video seat licenses for the next 60 days. According to POPio CEO, Gene Pranger, it’s a safe way for credit unions and their members to stay connected through a secure web-based video collaboration.  

POPio is uniquely positioned to address this challenge and is eager to help with our proprietary mobile and web video platform. We’re offering Northwest Credit Union Association members up to five free seat licenses per credit union, meaning they have the ability to add as many as five customer service agents to answer video calls during this time,” said Pranger.  

Pranger emphasizes that there is no obligation beyond the 60 days, and he’s hoping that the licenses last through the current crisis. He said it’s a solution that offers a benefit for both credit union members and employees. 

POPio’s video banking platform set-up and training is completed remotely. Pranger explained that the connection takes approximately one week (five business days) and that refresher training courses are also available if the need arises.  

During this time, when more and more branch lobbies are closing, POPi/o can be accessed entirely online simply by clicking on a link. Members can instantly initiate live, face-to-face video chat with credit union staff to securely share financial documents, review and sign forms, authorize new accounts and loans, and address other urgent financial needs. 

When asked about how older generations are adapting to video banking, Pranger explained that it’s really not new to them.  

Because of using FaceTime and Skype with their grandkids, the barrier of older members using digital technology has been removed. Today especially during this time of self-isolation members are enthusiastic about not having to go into their branch to resolve any banking issues,” Pranger said.
