Five Tech Innovators Showcased Their Credit Union Solutions at MAXX’s CU Pitch

The stage was set and the judges were ready. Five entrepreneurs waited anxiously in the wings to give their five-minute pitch. Buzz had been building all day at MAXX for the first-ever CU Pitch contest at the Strategic Link Trade Show, and it didn’t disappoint.

“The competition was fantastic. It was difficult to pick a winner because we can see all of them providing great value to credit union members,” said Brian Hamilton, one of the judges and Vice President of Innovation and Insight at CU Direct.

But of course, there could only be one winner. Taking top honors was Eltropy, the innovative tech company offering credit unions a unique text messaging solution. Ashish Garg, co-founder and CEO of Eltropy, believes in the convenience of modern communication and that credit unions can offer their members a much better customer experience using mobile devices and text messaging. Eltropy’s success stories include reducing one credit union member’s phone wait time by 500%.

“If dentists can use text messaging so can credit unions!” Garg told MAXX attendees.

Jeremy O’Niel, Vice President of Marketing at Hapo Community Credit Union, also served as a judge. He said Eltropy won his vote because it is “simple yet powerful, and it is stand-alone, meaning it doesn’t need integration with existing internal systems.”

Not only was Eltropy recognized as the 2019 “Best Credit Union Solution,” but Garg also won the opportunity to present his solution on the mainstage to hundreds of credit union professionals.

Other innovative companies chosen to share the stage at CU Pitch included Double Check, Narmi, Illuma Labs, and Digital Onboarding.

“All five of the presenters did a fantastic job,” said Strategic Resources Vice President, Jason Smith. “There were great questions from the judges, and I was really impressed with the turn out. I’m excited to innovate and improve this event every year.”
